I contacted Mr Shah privately after seven months of knee pain, several weeks of lockdown and an inevitable lack of progress with an NHS referral. Probably one of the best decisions I have made. His PA, Aamira quickly arranged for X-rays and MRI scans to be undertaken, which Mr Shah clearly explained to me and surgery to repair a damaged meniscus and related issues was arranged soon afterwards. Six weeks after surgery and following two follow up consultations I am back walking normally and pain free. The care and attention I received from him and his team were second to none. My only dissatisfaction with the process was being referred to a private clinic in Enfield for a weight bearing X-ray. Apparently there is no private provider of weight bearing X-rays in London, so I had to travel to a mobile unit in Southhampton. Fotunately I am retired and drive an automatic so I was not unduly inconvenienced.

From my first meeting with Mr Shah, I had complete confidence in his diagnosis and his recommendation for surgery on my left hip. That confidence was not misplaced as the surgery itself was performed to what I can only describe as the highest possible professional standard since it caused me no pain, was completely effective in solving the problem (I was able to walk without crutches within a matter of a few weeks) and in the subsequent months I have enjoyed perfectly normal mobility, to such an extent that I sometimes forget that I had the operation. Given that I had been anxious about going into hospital for the first time for anything let alone major surgery, I can pay no higher compliment to Mr Shah.

A consummate professional - empathetic, thorough, precise. Mr Shah conducted a knee arthroscopy for a torn meniscus. Every step of the journey from the initial consultation through to surgery and then after care has been exceptional. Immense credit also to his assistant, Aamira, who patiently navigated the CV19 restrictions and hospital theatre availability - and the BUPA bureaucracy- and kept me informed every step of the way.Thank you both - a great team.

Professor Shah is an unusually empathetic professional at the very pinnacle of the tree of competence that is only reserved for an elite few. He was recommended to me following an initial consultation to determine damage to my knee following years of running since the age of 9. After a lengthy tussle with my GP and thereafter the appointments team at Guys Hospital, I finally met Professor Shah. From initial assessment, where he offered me three objective solutions. He recommended day surgery in the form of a knee arthroscopy procedure. I had no hesitation in accepting his offer despite the Covid-19 pandemic. In this regard I commend Guys Hospital and all its staff in maintaining the highest standards of exceptional hygiene and social distancing throughout the entire hospital. The procedure was totally transparent with each personnel from checking in the operation ward to the theatre all A++++. Professor Shah's personable manner and high level of ability to explain complex medical concepts is unique amongst surgeons I have come across. I rate him as exceptional. The NHS and Guys Hospital is fortunate to have a professional of his consummate skill and dedication on its senior staff roster. It has been a pleasure being his patient and my knee feels it has a new lease of life!

After tolerating pain and severely restricted movement in my right hip for far too long I went for a consultation with Mr Shah. I expected him to say I was too young (in my early 50s) and I needed to put up with it. Instead he was extraordinarily sympathetic to the effect it was having on my quality of life. After my x-rays and MRI we agreed that I would go through with a total hip replacement. Then COVID-19 hit. After the initial lockdown I decided to go ahead despite the restrictions, which included no visitors. By the time of the operation I was very nervous and quite tearful. Mr Shah was absolutely fabulous. So reassuring and sympathetic to my concerns. It's now 8 weeks since the operation and I am mobile and pain-free. My scar is so neat and as a friend pointed out won't show in a swimsuit on the beach! Some surgeons use staples to save time - not Mr Shah. I did my research before my consultation of course but I think I struck gold when I got Mr Shah.
